In good hands
Mr. Lurye is a responsive, caring professional. Very shortly after emailing him he responded and started walking through what to expect and a brief timeline of the process moving forward. I hired him because of how responsive he was. Before the courtroom, I felt prepared and like my case was best representative of who I was, and his guidance as we prepared for court was instrumental in that. In the court room, I felt like I was truly well represented. Other lawyers seemed unprepared, and their clients did too. I didn’t feel that way at all. I felt like I was being represented by a true professional who leaves no detail un-noted and comes to court prepared and with a client who is confident (as confident as you can be in a court room).
Best DUI Lawyer
Mr. Lurye was the best lawyer to hire in this case of DUI. He is patient and very knowledgeable to the situation. Above his excellent representation, he gives step by step instructions for you to do to get the best ruling in favor for you. I would recommend Mr. Lurye to everyone who faces this situation. You will NOT be disappointed and this I can completely assure you. Trust his process and the do the work required and he can help you dramatically. Thank you again Mr. Lurye!!
Great lawyer, great person.
My wife and I were very pleased with Mr. Lurye. He explained everything to us in detail and was very helpful through the whole process. From the first phone call to the actual court date, he was terrific. He not only helped me get a favorable outcome but I learned a lot from him as well. I would recommend him to anyone.
Mr. Lurye was extremely helpful and guided me every step of the way explaining everything in great detail and really put me in the best position to get the best outcome. I am very happy with his work and would strongly recommend Mr. Lurye to anyone who is in need of a lawyer.
Wonderful lawyer and a person
We hired Richard some years ago and we couldn’t do the better choice. Trust him and follow his advices and hopefully everything will be resolved successfully for you. We recommend him 200%.
Thank you, Richard
Don’t know what I would have done without him!
Rick Lurye’s excellent skills as a lawyer are only surpassed by his kindness and compassion as a human being. He’s really the kind of person that cares about his clients and goes above and beyond to be supporting, both legally and emotionally. Facing a DUI was a really scary and stressful situation and Rick went out of his way to make me feel safe and prepared. The very first time I called him he walked me through a lot of the steps I needed to take and various outcomes I should be prepared for, all before I even hired him! He was honest, upfront, and reassuring so I had no hesitation in asking him to represent me. He expects the same commitment to the case from his clients as he does from himself so there’s a good amount of effort you will need to put into preparation for court, but it definitely pays off! Personally I entered court with several alarming factors from the time of my arrest, including a very high blood alcohol concentration, but I left with an awesome result. My verdict was definitely one of a kind and we were even stopped by a few lawyers and defendants to congratulate us on the way out. Like I said, this wasn’t a typical result, but I’m confident that any client of Rick’s will leave court with the best result possible for their case. I think I’ve gone on enough but I really mean every word I said! If you’re taking your case seriously and are willing to put in the work to make sure you can put it behind you and move on with your life, you couldn’t be in better hands.
Great person, great lawer
I found Richard back in March 2016, having been cited for dui, dwi, negligent driving, & failure to obey a traffic device (skipped a red light). Several years back I’d been charged with my first dui, and even though that judge downgraded it to negligent driving, I knew the stakes were higher with a second charge. So I spent a couple of days shopping around for good representation, and this time had to be different. I was seriously looking to change my lifestyle/behavior, not just for a favorable legal outcome. All the attorneys I found were only concerned with the latter, until I met Richard.
Richard took the time to listen to my concerns. He inquired into details that other attorneys didn’t bother. He was concerned not only about what happened but how I felt about it, and any personal changes I wanted to make in the interest of preventing similar outcomes in the future. From our first conversation it was clear that he understood me and was looking out for my legal and other personal interests. I know he was genuinely looking out for me since he offered a wealth of guidance and legal advice prior retaining him.
After consulting with my wife, we decided to retain Richard, looking back, it was the right call. I’ve dealt with other professionals and attorneys and Richard simply operates at a higher level. Some people give you the run around, especially when they know you have no recourse. But Richard is warm, professional, reliable, very friendly, candid, genuinely a good person. When he talks, you can tell he has taken the time to formulate clear, coherent thoughts. He’s not looking to dazzle with jargon, he wants you to be as clear as possible regarding the matter.
I’m not going to review everything Richard did to prepare me for my court date, suffice to say it was a well thought out plan and I’m glad he guided me through it. Some of the activities required more time and effort on my part, but again, Richard was there to encourage and remind me why it was important.
A week before my court date, we met to review our strategy and court procedures. Here’s another area where Richard shined. Not only did he verbally review everything with me, he also documented it so I could review after our meeting. He even took the time to provide some court documents so I could pre-fill them ahead of time and focus on the case.
On my court date (Nov), he arrived head of time to welcome my wife and I. Little things such as this make a difference to me. As we walked in to the building and court room, he was there to put us at ease, reminding us that we were ready and everything would be ok. And that’s exactly how it turned out. In the end I received a favorable outcome—unsupervised pbj for a month! And the judge even commended me in my attempts to make amends prior to my court date, all thanks to Richard.
There’re several ways my situation could have going south, but thanks to Richard it didn’t. I can’t guarantee you’ll receive a similar outcome, but I’m tell you Richard is trustworthy. He will help you with our legal woes as best he can, and help you consider lifestyle changes for the better. I can honestly say I’m a better person having known him. Thank you Richard 🙂
Highly Recomment. Great Lawyer
I received my first (and hopefully last) DUI earlier in the year and contacted Richard after my wife asked for recommendations on various family message boards. My case was unique because I was also driving with my children at the time of my stop (I was initially pulled over for expired tags and when the officer noticed the smell of alcohol on me proceeded to do field tests and take me in).
Richard was very patient and kind during our first conversation. He took the time to hear my story and get to know my background and family history. This allowed me to get comfortable with using him as my lawyer for my case.
The actions and steps Richard advised me to take leading up to my case helped tremendously. He encouraged me to enroll in several alcohol related counseling programs along with volunteering a few hours at a non-profit. I also voluntarily installed an interlock in my vehicle at his suggestion due to the unique circumstance of my case involving getting my DUI with children in my car. Finally, he tasked me with reading a book about alcohol and to write an essay about what I learned in the book along with the knowledge I gained attending alcohol related counseling.
All throughout, Richard was kind, patient, and understanding. He carefully explained possible outcomes to my trial and ensured that was fully prepared on what to say and what to expect as punishment for my actions. He answered questions in kind and made sure you understood him before moving on to another topic. Based on hearing the stories of others dealing with DUIs during my counseling, I could tell that my experience with Richard was unique and that he unlike some, cared for his client.
In the end, I received 9 months of unsupervised probation and 24 hours of community service. I essentially received a PBJ which is the best possibly outcome I could get considering my situation. I owe all of this to the actions and steps Richard recommended me to take leading up to my trial for the favorable outcome. While, I cannot promise a similar outcome if you hire Richard, I can say with confidence that he will work hard for you and make sure you take any and all steps to avoid the maximum penalty for your DUI. Thank you Richard.
A lawyer who cares – Beyond my expectations
I am blessed to come to know Mr. Lurye. He represented me beyond my expectations. Mr. Lurye prepared me for court from the first moment I spoke with him. He told me what I need to know at each step of the process so that I was ready for trial. He is very proactive. I was ready for court and he presented my best self as a trustworthy person to the court. He showed the court all of my efforts and that I changed following the incident. He motivated me and encouraged me. He listened to all my concerns carefully and advised me wisely. He even structured my payment so that I can pay every two weeks. He has a realistic approach to get the desired result. Mr. Lurye helped me through a very difficult time in my life that could have destroyed my career and my family’s future. In the end, I am very happy with the results of this case. See the citation, the strategy and result below.
1. Driving under the influence of alcohol
2. Driving vehicle while under the influence of alcohol
3. Driving while impaired by alcohol
4. Failure to display registration card upon demand by police officer
5. Negligent driving vehicle in careless and imprudent manner endangering property, life and person
6. Reckless driving vehicle in wanton and willful disregard for safety of persons and property
7. Failure of dr. to make lane change to avail. lane not immed. adj. to stopped emerg. veh
Strategy: Mr. Lurye advised me to complete the following before the court date which helped me in the court and helped me gain new knowledge.
1. Enroll in a substance abuse program
2. Read a book and write a 3-page essay
3. Attend a PADDD class
4. Complete community service
DUI charge was dropped. DWI charge was changed to probation before judgment for 1 day. The moving violations were dropped and I was charged with a much less serious charge (negligent driving, 1 point).
Richard was extremely helpful, calm, and comforting. He understood my situation while I was panicky and unclear. He answered my questions though I could not formulate them, and showed me a clear path toward illuminating the most dark and puzzling time that I have experienced in this lifetime. Thank you. Maybe I will see you later.
I highly recommend Mr. Lurye!
I was in need of a DUI lawyer after breathing a level of .20, which is considered extremely high. After reading all his reviews, Mr. Lurye appeared to be very professional and genuine. I hired him right after our consultation, because he made me feel calm and walked me through all of the steps. He made sure to explain everything in detail so that I fully understood what I was getting into.
Though the DUI was my first offense, the breath alcohol content of a .20 was the issue. Mr. Lurye gave me a long list of things to do to help my case and teach me a lesson.
He advised me to:
Enroll in a substance abuse program (which I had 26 weeks to complete in order to pass the class)
Read a book and write a 3-page essay about the dangers of driving intoxicated
Get an interlock installed in my car
Attend a PADDD class
Complete hours of community service (I completed 60 hours)
Attended some AA meetings (I attended about 4)
The list is long and can be time consuming, but it is important to do everything Mr. Lurye suggests if you want the best possible outcome for your case. He gave me advice like he would if I was his daughter, which made me feel he was genuinely helping me.
A BAC level of .20 was a concern for the judge, but after seeing everything I completed prior to going to court made all the difference. He said, “There is nothing that I can have you complete that Mr. Lurye already hasn’t.” I got a PBJ (Probation before judgement) and one day of probation unsupervised. It felt so good to put everything behind me and I surely learned my lesson.
Great representation, extremely well respected!
Mr. Lurye helped me through one of the most difficult situations of my life. I was 21 years old, interning and living out of state (I’m a licensed NY driver), and was arrested with a BAC of .16. Having had absolutely zero experience with the law previously, I did not know what to do. From our first conversation, Mr. Lurye took the time to get to know me and my situation. Too make matters even more stressful, from the time of my arrest to my court hearing, I moved 6 times between 4 different states. Mr. Lurye understood all of this and always helped keep me calm and informed. He was extremely reachable, and responded to my emails, calls or texts almost immediately, even on some holidays! As part of our preparation for court, he gave me a list of tasks to accomplish to present myself as best as possible in court. This list included such items as attending AA meetings, a state certified alcohol education program, reading a book on alcoholism and writing a reflection, completing community service, along with several other items. Although it was a lot to do, it proved extremely beneficial in the long run. As court approached, Mr. Lurye made sure that I was aware of everything that I would experience on the day of court. When we walked into the courthouse, it was immediately clear how respected Mr. Lurye is in his field. Everyone from security, to other defense attorneys, to the judges, all knew Mr. Lurye and spoke very highly of him. When it was all said and done, I was granted a very favorable judgement of Probation Before Judgement, 4 months of probation (with some criteria waved), and a fraction of the possible fine. I am, and always will be extremely thankful for the help and guidance that Mr. Lurye has given me over the past year as I have been overcoming one of the most difficult situations of my life.
Personal and always looking out for his clients
I had a second DUI charge and hired Rick to be my lawyer. I can’t say enough great things about my experience. I agreed to do a lot of work and in the end it paid off. Rick was able to get me the best possible outcome and saved me $$ and possible time in jail. He was very calm and took the time to make sure I was comfortable with the process while still being honest. I would definitely recommend him to someone who needs an honest and good lawyer.
My son received a DUI in May of 2015. It was the first and hopefully the last. Mr. Lurye answered our prayers. We had court last week. My son was not convicted. The Judge, the police officers all showed great respect toward Mr. Lurye. This said a lot.
Most importantly, the whole process of working with Mr. Lurye had a large impact on our son. It wasn’t a case of hiring a lawyer to pay my son’s way out of trouble. He learned so much about why you shouldn’t drink and drive- through councelling, the PADD program and community service. My son is an out of state college student. Mr. Lurye accommodated every need in order for my son to stay at college while completing his tasks.
I remember the feeling of panic the morning after the DUI. We are so glad we found Richard Lurye.
Exceeded All Expectations on DUI/DWI
I talked with many lawyers before hiring Mr. Lurye and based on his knowledge of the area, the local court system, and most importantly his interest in me as a person along with my case; it was an easy decision to have him represent me. I could not be happier I made that choice. Mr. Lurye set realistic expectations, and gave me a multitude of resources that I could take advantage of before I entered court. Every referral he gave was intended to put me in me the best light in front of a judge, and I never felt he was trying to waste my time or my money. When we entered court I was fully prepared, and Mr. Lurye represented me like I was a member of his family. Following his pre-trial plan, the results spoke for themselves. Although I received a PBJ on an earlier DUI/DWI, the judge gave me a suspended sentence (no jail or work release program) and was open to another PBJ so that I would not have a drinking driving conviction on my record. I cannot recommend Mr. Lurye enough, and I am truly grateful I had him as my lawyer.
Knowledge and Experience
After my initial consultation with Rick, I came away feeling confident in his ability to handle my son’s case. He offered more advice than I would or could have expected, and when it came time to seek representation I already had trust in his expertise and a feeling that we had already established a solid relationship. My son’s case was resolved before we got to the courtroom. Rick’s knowledge of the Maryland legal system and professional relationships that he developed throughout his years of representing clients certainly had a lot to do with such an expedited and positive outcome.
Excellent, caring attorney – highly recommended
We were extremely fortunate that we found Richard Lurye when our son received a citation for driving violations including DWI.
Before we even hired him, Rick spent an hour on the phone explaining the charges, the potential outcomes, and the details of the Montgomery County court process. At our first meeting, he thoroughly explained everything to our son and answered all of his questions. While not minimizing the seriousness of the situation, Rick made our son confident that he would have in his corner not just an experienced advocate but someone who really cared about him and wanted the best for him.
Rick also gave our son a list of tasks to complete before going to court (alcohol education, community service, etc.), which were designed to increase the likelihood of a favorable result in the case. Although these tasks required time and effort, they directly contributed to the very good result that Rick was able to achieve.
Throughout the entire process of the case, Rick was knowledgeable, patient, courteous, and understanding. His advice was consistently sound. In court, it was clear that he was well respected both by the judge and by other lawyers. We highly recommend Rick to anyone else who is faced with a similar legal problem.
Better than I could have hoped for
When I was arrested and charged for a DWI, I came to Mr. Lurye because of great reviews I saw on this website. I knew he was supposed to be one of the best, but my experience with him even surpassed my expectations. Because of his excellent legal advice and his recommended course of action for me, I was able to put my best foot forward before I even reached the court date. And, because he had helped me put myself in such a favorable position, my DWI charge was eventually dropped and replaced with a much less serious negligent driving charge instead. He helped me through a very difficult time in my life and because of his caring, diligent work I have come out of it in the best possible way. I would recommend him to anyone!
Richard Lurye assisted me with a 1st time DUI offense. He explained the details of my case and the possible outcomes with patience and care. I was able to get PBJ and fines lowered by doing the things I was asked to do. He is very detailed I am very happy with the results of this case and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for representation for DUI/DWI cases.
A lawyer who truly cares about his clients
In April, I was arrested for a DUI after I hit a car in a parking lot and attempted to leave the scene. So not only was I being arrested for drinking and driving, but also a hit and run charge. I had never been in trouble with the law before so to say that I was terrified and did not know what to do next was an understatement.
The day after my arrest I called Mr. Lurye. He immediately calmed my nerves and walked me through everything that was happening and would happen to me. He sent me a “checklist” of things I should do before my court date so that I would receive the most favorable outcome. Even though there was 4 months between my arrest an my court date, he always checked in on me to not only make sure I was working on my checklist, but also to make sure I was doing okay.
Some of these items included attending an alcohol education program, reading a book and writing a reflection paper, and completing community service. By the time my court date arrived he had spoken to the state prosecutor and they agreed to charge me only with the DUI charge and not the hit and run charge. However, because the hit and run was the reason I was pulled over, this piece of evidence was still presented to the judge.
I received the most favorable outcome we could have imagined. Mr. Lurye presented to the judge all of the steps I had taken since my arrest to learn from my mistakes. He showed that I had attended an alcohol program, an aggressive driver program, I had completed 50 hours of community service, and written a reflection paper. He mentioned how I was a recent college graduate pursuing a master’s degree and starting at a brand new job. He really painted me in the best light to the judge and I believe this is why I received such a favorable outcome. I received 18 months of unsupervised probation and PBJ (so I would not have the arrest on my record), no more community service hours, and a small fine of $270.
I am so incredibly thankful for Mr.Lurye’s counseling. Not only did I receive the outcome I wanted, but the conversations I had with Mr.Lurye truly taught me so much about myself and really allowed me to learn from my mistakes.
I would recommend Mr.Lurye to everyone! He is a compassionate and caring person that is truly on your side.
Experienced and Professional
Rick Lurye helped me through the biggest mistake of my life. His guidance and expertise guided me through a very rough time that could have had more severe consequences had I not consulted with him.
He will do right by you. His recommendations and hours spent helping you pay off in the end. Everyone I was referred to by Rick wanted to and did help me get through the months leading up to the court case.
I very much recommend him for anyone in need of a DUI lawyer. Do what he asks, and show up where you are expected, and he will get you the best judgement.
Learn from my mistake and don’t drink and drive. It will cost you time and money!
DO THE RIGHT THING
LOOKING BACK I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT IN THE SPAN OF SEVERAL DAYS I WENT FROM DOING ONE OF THE MOST IDIOTIC THINGS IN MY LIFE TO ONE OF THE WISEST. WHEN I WAS ARRESTED FOR DUI I WENT FROM BEING VERY MAD AT MYSELF TO GOING INTO A PANIC WHEN THE LETTERS STARTED POURING IN FROM LAWYERS WITH IN TWO DAYS DESCRIBING THE ” HORROR” THAT AWAITED ME NOW THAT I HAD BECOME A CRIMINAL. JAIL TIME, HUGE FINES, LOSS OF LICENCE WERE ALL PROBABLE IF I DID NOT RETAIN THEIR SERVICES IMMEDIATELY SO THAT THEY MIGHT SAVE ME LOOMING DISASTER. I MAY DO STUPID THINGS ON OCCASION BUT I DO NOT CONSIDER MYSELF STUPID. I DECIDED TO DO MY OWN RESEARCH TO HOPEFULLY FIND SOMEONE THAT COULD HELP ME. TO BE HONEST I AM NOT SURE WHAT MADE ME DECIDE TO GIVE MR. LURYE A CALL. OF COURSE I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH HIS WEBSITE , HIS EXPERIENCE WORKING BOTH AS A PROSECUTOR AND A DEFENSE ATTORNEY. IN THE FINAL ANALYSIS I HAD A GOOD FEELING THAT HE FOCUSED STRICTLY ON DUI CASES. I LIKE SPECIALISTS. ALSO LIKE ME HE WAS A NEW YORK GUY SO WHILE THAT REALLY DOESN’T MATTER IT STRUCK A CHORD WITH ME. WHEN I SPOKE WITH MR. LURYE ON THE PHONE FOR THE FIRST TIME; FOR OVER AN HOUR I REALLY FELT I HAD MADE THE RIGHT CALL. HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND YET APPEARED VERY SENSITIVE TO MY PREDICAMENT. HE WAS UP FRONT ABOUT THE COST, HE WAS VERY POLITE YET VERY CLEAR ABOUT INTRODUCING ME TO THE WORK THE WOULD NEED TO BE DONE TO ” MINIMIZE” THE WRONG I HAD DONE. IN SHORT MR. LURYE MADE ME FEEL AT EASE. MR. LURYE, I LEARNED, LIMITS HIS CASELOAD IN ORDER TO GIVE TOP PRIORITY TO HIS CLIENTS. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT I LEARNED THAT MR. LURYE IS EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE LAW AND HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY. EVERYONE WE CAME IN CONTACT DURING THE ENTIRE PROCESS HELD HIM IN HIGH REGARD FROM THE TREATMENT COUNSELOR, TO THE PROSECUTOR, TO THE JUDGE THAT HEARD MY CASE, TO THE MVA JUDGE THAT RULED ON MY DRIVER LICENCE STATUS.BELIEVE ME, MR. LURYE IS EXTREMELY WELL RESPECTED IN THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM . I FOUND FIRST HAND THAT THIS A VERY GOOD QUALITY FOR A LAWYER TO HAVE. I WILL NOT DENY THAT IT WASN’T A STROLL ON THE BEACH. I HAD TO DO A LOT OF WORK AND THE ENTIRE PROCESS COST CONSIDERABLE MONIES BUT IT WAS ME WHO MADE THE MISTAKE AND IT WAS ME THAT WOULD NEED TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY MISTAKE. MR. LURYE WAS WITH ME THE ENTIRE TIME TO MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS. I HONESTLY BELIEVE THE OUTCOME WAS THE BEST POSSIBLE ONE I COULD HAVE ASKED FOR. OF COURSE EVERY CASE IS DIFFERENT BUT IF YOU NEED A GOOD LAWYER TO GET YOU THROUGH, MR. LURYE IS YOUR MAN. MAYBE JUST AS IMPORTANT HE IS A GOOD PERSON TOO. IF YOU ARE READING THIS MOST LIKELY YOU NEED HELP. DO THE RIGHT THING. CALL MR. LURYE.
Professional, knowledgeable, courteous, respectful
Mr. Lurye calmly asesses the situation, provides expert guidance, and quietly and confidently guides the individual through the legal process. His courtroom style shows respect for the legal process, yet the client feels confident that Mr. Luyre will obtain the best outcome possible, and is continually working on their behalf.
Best DUI lawyer ever.
Richard was very helpful during the months it took to go to court. He helped me develop a plan that made me comfortable with what lied ahead. When I went to court I felt I was more prepared than others. He is well respected and when he spoke people listened. We recieved the best case scenario. Richard went above and beyond for me and he will do the same dor you.
Richard Lurye is outstanding
Eleven years ago, Richard Lurye helped our son deal with a marijuana possession charge. He gave us exactly the right advice, and our son was able to avoid detention or probation. But more than that, he was able to provide counseling that helped our son get on the right track. He went on to the University of Virginia as an honor student and got a rewarding job in a scientific field. Now, he’s about to get married to a wonderful young woman and I thought it was a good time to thank Richard for helping him on his way. Thank you, Richard, for all you do.
You want the best?? Here he is!!
I would highly recommend Richard Lurye to be your attorney or if you need an attorney for a family member or friend. Mr. Lurye is very knowledgeable and highly respected within his profession.
Mr. Lurye was my attorney for a DUI charge I received in December 2014. It was my first offense in which I blew a .15. I researched many lawyers and found based off the reviews, Mr. Lurye was the best match. I completely agree with all of his positive reviews that have been written about him. Since the first time I reached out to Mr. Lurye, he has been very understanding, supportive, and has provided outstanding guidance to ensure I would be best positioned for court.
Following his very detailed and organized plan, I was able to receive no jail time, probation before judgment to include unsupervised probation. It was the very best possible outcome given my situation.
I cannot thank Mr. Lurye enough for all of his guidance and support during this difficult time. He is an exceptional lawyer that I highly recommend. I was more than fortunate to have had him represent me.
A very grateful parent’s recommendation of a wonderful lawyer and human being
A couple of years ago my 17-year old daughter was charged with shoplifting. The police officer suggested to my daughter that she get a lawyer. I had never hired a lawyer before nor had any dealings with the legal system. Both my daughter and I were upset and to say the least, “stressed-out.” I didn’t really know the best way to proceed and I finally decided to turn to the Internet to read attorney reviews and get suggestions. There was one lawyer that clearly stood out above all the rest, receiving the highest praises and recommendations. This lawyer was Richard Lurye.
I decided to call Mr. Lurye the very next day and as many others have said, it was the best decision I could have made. Mr. Lurye is an exceptional attorney. Not only is Mr. Lurye experienced and knowledgeable, he is also understanding and caring. From our first phone conversation, I felt Mr. Lurye cared about both my daughter and me and would do everything possible to guide us and obtain the best possible outcome.
Mr. Lurye took the time to thoroughly explain everything to us, including what options we had and what would be required and expected of us each step of the way. Mr. Lurye made several suggestions which would help my daughter be looked at more favorably by a judge or counselor. One such suggestion was for my daughter to proactively start performing community service right away without waiting to go to court. This advice turned out to be invaluable since my daughter was under a time crunch hoping to go out-of-state to college in a few short months with everything wrapped-up and taken care of. Through it all, I felt like we had the most qualified and understanding person on our side and, as a result, I felt like a weight was lifted from my shoulders.
Mr. Lurye took the time to talk one-on-one with my daughter, advising her and counseling her in a nonjudgmental manner. They discussed everything from the possible impact her shoplifting charge could have on her college admission process and her summer job search to what the judge would be looking for when my daughter went to court. I believe my daughter felt Mr. Lurye genuinely cared about her and wanted the very best for her, both throughout the trial period and later in her future life. As a parent, I truly felt Mr. Lurye made a positive impact on my daughter’s life and I will be forever grateful. My daughter ended up opting for Teen Court and spent the summer successfully completing assigned tasks and community service. She was able to start college in the fall without a record hindering her in any way. Now, several years later, I need a lawyer’s advice on an unrelated matter. Without the slightest hesitation, I contacted Richard Lurye again. I highly recommend Richard Lurye to anyone looking for legal representation. It will be the best decision you could make too.
HIGHLY Recommended Attorney
From the very first phone consultation Mr. Lurye presented himself as a well spoken, thoughtful individual with a deep knowledge of DUI subject matter. As my case and our interaction progressed I felt as though he was truly vested in my best interest and obtaining a positive outcome to an otherwise unpleasant situation.
Mr. Lurye was very though in his procedures and extremely clear in all his communications. His extensive experience and focus on DUI proceedings allowed us to layout a clear and understandable course of action which ultimately led to better than expected result.
I would recommend Mr. Lurye to anyone facing a DUI trial in Montgomery County, MD. He has my gratitude and my thanks for helping me get this matter behind me.
A great ally
After getting a DUI, I was overwhelmed with the whole process, as this was my first arrest of any kind. I quickly read as many reviews of lawyers as I could, in an effort to inform myself, and narrowed it down to a remaining handful. I called each one of these on my list, but Rick stood out from our first conversation, and immediately helped me to reach a comfort level. Without even having me signed up as a client, he advised me of my rights, explained what I needed to do next, and how I should proceed going forward.
I hired Rick the next day, and it was the best decision I could have made. My case involved a first-offense DUI with a BAC under .15, and no accident or injuries. Rick provided me a “to-do list”, as many others have mentioned below this review…it is extensive, but if you are truly committed to showing the court that this incident is not a good reflection of your character, then it will not be a problem to complete. These included attending a state recognized alcohol counseling program, reading a book and writing a paper, attending a victim impact class that highlights the dangers of driving under the influence, and volunteer work with an organization of your choice.
The items Rick requests you do may see pretty overwhelming at first, and even after a couple weeks it seems like they are more hassle than they are worth. But by doing multiple things over a longer timeline, there is very little chance you will forget about WHY you are doing these things, and in the long run, this will help to ensure you don’t make the same mistake again.
Because I started with these items almost immediately after my arrest, I was able to complete the check list before both my DMV hearing and my court date. This was a powerful tool to help mitigate the punishment I could have received at either of these hearings, and it showed the DMV and the court that I was doing everything in my power to learn from my mistake, and to try to right my wrong.
I received a Probation Before Judgement, with 6 months unsupervised probation (meaning I had no further actions to complete once my court hearing ended). And compared to the other DUI cases that were heard before mine, I was easily the most prepared person in the courtroom that day. I credit this to Rick.
I can’t recommend Rick enough…he is a true professional. He will give you the guidance you need to improve who you are, and that will not go unrecognized by the court.
I recommend Mr. Richard Lurye to anyone seeking an Excellent and capable lawyer
I really recommend Mr. Richard Lurye to anyone seeking a good and capable lawyer.
– an Excellent Lawyer,
– patient man,
– caring man,
– but, most importantly, he is very humane.
I hired Richard in February 2014 and my date court was scheduled in October the same year. At the time, I was disturbed because it was my first time to be arrested in my life.
When I received a DUI, it was after being involved in a car accident (but I was alone in the car), I was therefore dealing with both emotions and healthy problems. This being my first offense/ DUI ever, I was feeling very nervous and wanted to find the best Lawyer. I therefore surfed on internet to google Maryland Lawyers and see how I can contact them. While most of the lawyers I saw on internet had good track records, only Mr. Lurye inspired a lot of confidence considering his profile and his experience and decided to give him a call. It was an afternoon. He asked me if I could go to see him the following day and explain my situation to him. We sat together in his office and gave me sound advice before I even hired him.
I’m a foreigner, new in US at time, and my English was not good and, therefore, I could not speak properly to him because I missing suitable expression to explain him my case. But he always made sure I understood what he was telling me. He was really patient with me. He even taught me how to speak properly in order to be understood.
Mr. Luyre offered me an excellent consultation, keeping me at ease while discussing a number of options I had. I appreciated his approach, not overly optimistic but also not overly pessimistic; just very specific about what can happen according to my case. He played a role of a very good teacher to me! He asked me all the details and specifics about my family life, education, career, but also about the arrest. He was really genuinely concerned for me and my well-being throughout the whole period and process. He was always asking questions about my Family, since he knew that I came in this country for job purposes.
Mr. Lurye is really a very knowledgeable lawyer about the entire DUI process. He took his time to teach me the legal process behind DUI cases and all the possible outcomes from these cases. He is very patient. As I said above, my English was not good, and I was always asking him to repeat what he was telling me, but he did not get nervous about that. He suggested me a “list to do” while waiting the court date, which I completed (all of the items on his “checklist”) after almost 6 months. This checklist included notably doing “community services”, attending a “PADD class”, the “Right Turn”, “reading a book about alcohol addiction”, and attending “alcohol counseling classes”. He also advised me to install an interlock system in my car. I decided to follow all his advices to the letter because I knew that all these would contribute to a very favorable outcome in the court. The outcome was probation before judgment with 364 days of unsupervised probation. This outcome was really a real relief for me.
I thank you so much, Dear Richard Lurye, you really defended me as you would defend a member of your own family.
I am sincerely grateful.
Extremely Helpful and Experienced
Mr. Lurye was everything I could have asked for during this difficult time. In my case, I was very worried about the outcome. I refused to use the breathalyzer (bad choice) and was charged with a DUI/DWI after driving onto the curb.
I cannot express how deeply depressed I was about the whole situation and what could have happened. Nonetheless, Mr. Lurye immediately gave very detailed counsel and advice when I called. Furthermore, he met with me on a weekend and got me ready to take the next steps in my case. Mr. Lurye suggested I complete various programs and I did so. He was extremely trustworthy and knowledgeable. He responded whenever there was a true need for a response and if an emergency was taking place, he was extremely quick to respond.
As a result, I was extremely lucky and had the most favorable outcome possible – in whole I attribute this to Mr. Lurye’s suggestions and following through with them. The process is time consuming, financially devastating, and emotionally draining….but Mr. Lurye is a kind and helpful man who will get you through it all.
Its good to know Rick
Richard Lurye is a caring, accomplished, and compassionate man.
Rick, as he is often called, effortlessly demonstrated this from our first initial phone conversation all the way through to our final handshake as we departed the courthouse together. Via thorough processes and diligent planning , Mr Lurye left our team very well prepared for our day in court. Decades of service helping people has allowed Mr Lurye to accumulate a wealth of legal knowledge which he readily made available to me via in person visits at his home, phone conversations, text messages, and emails.
The capstone of my experience with Rick was the actual court hearing. Mr Lurye masterfully took command of not only my case, but the audience in the courtroom, as well. From the courts reaction, it was clear that Rick is a know and respected figure in his profession. His eloquent soliloquy to the listeners , was based on fact and presented my case in the best possible light.
I truly feel that with the help of Mr Lurye, I received the most favorable outcome from the judge. That being said, if I or a loved were ever to face a similar legal predicament, I would not hesitate to seek out Mr Lurye and request his excellent service.
A True Blessing!!
I received my 2nd DUI charge in 2014, and I was very nervous the first time I met Mr. Lurye, but he was able to immediately put me at ease. Mr. Lurye was knowledgeable, personable, and he listened very well, but his best character trait is that he TRULY cares about his clients. Mr. Lurye took care of all my paperwork, and took the time to advise me of my rights. He was very clear when he explained things to me, and he always ended by saying ” do you have any questions”. My Lurye is very easy to talk to, and he has a great personality. Please know that Mr. Lurye will do the best he can to assist you with your legal issue, and he expects you to do the same. Meaning, he fully expects you to take care of business, in a timely manner, because he wants the best outcome for you.
I recently went to court, and I received a very favorable outcome. Much better than I expected. I’m am currently on probation for a year, but I did not face any jail time, I did not have to put the interlock on my car, and I did not have to do any additional volunteer work.
I FULLY endorse Mr. Lurye as a very good attorney, and I also FULLY endorse him as a great person.
Could not have asked for a better outcome.
I am so thankful to have stumbled on Richard Luyre’s profile while perusing Avvo. I had just received a DUI and was dealing with a number of emotions, shame and fear being some of them. Mr. Luyre provided me with an excellent consultation, keeping me at ease while discussing a number of options I had. I proceeded to request representation and he accepted. What separates Mr Luyre from other lawyers is the care and compassion he puts in every case. These qualities make the absolute difference in the courtroom. Having a lawyer that actually cares means he knows many important details from your experience. From learning about my history, he was able to create a thorough checklist that impacted the judges decision. I had a high reading during my arrest, a suspended license, and citations for reckless driving. I walked out the court room with all charges except DUI dropped and unsupervised probation for 18 months. Thank you Richard Luyre for everything! I can emerge from this experience with a positive outlook because of your representation.
First DUI offense client
Mr. Lurye was very knowledgeable about the entire DUI process. I completed all of the items on his “checklist,” which gave me a very favorable outcome in both the criminal hearing and MVA hearing. If you follow all of his instructions, you should see similar results (depending on your prior criminal record, of course). I got more than I could have asked for from Mr. Lurye, but there is effort required on your part that you must be willing to undertake. You won’t get favorable results if you don’t put any of your own personal time/energy into his instructions.
Very helpful and supportive
I interviewed several lawyers before I hired Mr. Lurye- this being my first offense ever, DUI or otherwise (not to mention I blew a .17 BAL), I was naturally very nervous and wanted to find the best. While most of the lawyers I met with had decent track records, none of them really inspired a lot of confidence. Then I found Mr. Lurye here on Avvo and decided to give him a call. Though he was out of town and unable to meet with me in person for while, he immediately called back, asked me if he could look at my case, asked me if I could explain my situation in my own words, and gave me sound advice before I even hired him or met in person.
After I hired him, Mr. Lurye was very helpful and supportive every step of the way, and he showed a personal investment not only in my legal troubles but also in my personal well-being. He was always informative and thorough. He helped me understand the legal process behind DUI cases and all the possible outcomes from these cases, including “probation before judgement” which I did not know about before, and he always kept me informed about all my options. Based on my case he gave me a to-do list before my hearing that would both help me get the best possible outcome from my case and be a powerful learning experience so that I would not repeat the same mistake. It was a lot of work, but completely worth it. In the end I managed to get probation before judgment with two years of unsupervised probation, which was even better than I expected. But most importantly, I will never drink and drive again.
He was very professional and kept me informed on what was going on at all times and what to expect. Was always available for any questions that I had and answered them thoroughly. He was very effective and fought to get me the best possible out come. Would recommend to anyone seeking a good lawyer.
Rick was great throughout the whole process. He kept me informed and helped me get a very favorable outcome. I will definitely refer him to others I know.
Fully recommend Mr. Lurye
Mr. Lurye was very professional and kept me informed on next steps in my case. He sought to understand me as a person and not just as another client. He was genuinely concerned for me and my well -being throughout my trial process. He was knowledgeable of the law and also put me in contact with resources beneficial to my case. He understood what questions to ask and sought to understand my answers. Mr. Lurye stayed in contact with me throughout the development of my case and provided great insight along the way. I would recommend him fully.
Mr. Lurye is just the best possible lawyer for this type of cases I won’t go too much into details since the previous person (Dick) pretty much explained how Mr. Lurye approached and handle the case as he did with mine. My incident happened many years ago but I couldn’t asked for a better outcome. thank you so much Mr. Lurye
Excellent Lawyer, caring man!
If you are seeking a lawyer we highly recommend Mr. Lurye. He was professional yet empathetic to our situation and we always felt there was hope after speaking with him. He is a very caring man and was genuinely concerned and not condemning which was a relief. He always kept us apprised of the status of our case, even contacting us while he was out of state attending a funeral. He worked closely with the State’s Attorney and was able to negotiate to have the serious charges dropped for which we are very grateful. We would definitely turn to Mr. Lurye again if the need ever arose. Thank you Richard Lurye and God bless.
Best choice for a DUI attorney
Immediately after getting a DUI/DWI, I conducted some research on attorneys and eventually contacted Richard Lurye in Rockville, MD. After having spent part of the previous evening in jail, I was very, very anxious to begin planning for my defense as this was my first time being arrested. Richard was very good about explaining the circumstances and what to expect. I appreciated his approach, not overly optimistic and not too dreadful, just very specific about what happens next. He asked me for all the details and specifics about the arrest. I appreciated his candor and not trying to over-sell me on his abilities and how he would be able to get a not-guilty verdict or have the case thrown out. I actually had a couple attorneys suggest this. My alcohol level was twice (.16) the limit (.08) and high enough to potentially cause a judge to render a harsher verdict. Richard devised a very effective and complete game plan for my defense including doing community service, attending a PADD class, reading a book about alcohol addiction and AA, and attending alcohol counseling. He also was very familiar with the legal system in Montgomery County, MD and knew the Judges and the Prosecutors well enough to know which judges were more conservative than others. He recommended that I avoid the Administrative Law Hearing at the DMV due to my high BAC level and have an intelock systme installed instead. I made a decison early on to do eveything he asked me to do including having the interlock system placed on my vehicle. When we appeared in court, he also arranged to have the Psychologist appear and provide the court with a summary of the work I did during our counseling sessions. He tutored me on what to expect at the hearing as well as what to say and what not to say. The result of the hearing was much better than expected. Essentially, because I had followed the advice of my attorney to the letter, the judge accepted a probation before judgement and actually ruled that even the probationary period was now over so I was free of having to do anything else other than pay a fine (which I did prior to the trial on advice of Counsel). Needless to say I was very, very relieved to hear this verdict. I present these details to offer my strongest recommendation for Richard Lurye as your attorney. He was very effective in my defense and prepared me in every aspect in order to postion me for the best possible outome. You would be doing yourself a favor by hiring Richard as your defense attorney. I am certainly glad I did.
Advice on provisional driver & speeding ticket…
Thank you very much Mr. Lurye! After initially turning to the internet for legal advice, being given the opportunity to actually discuss the situation with an attorney was a big relief. Though your advice included a recommendation NOT to formally retain a lawyer, it also included much needed guidance and wise counsel as to how best to proceed. I truly enjoyed speaking with you. Your patience and willingness to delve into the details during a phone consultation absolutely highlights your genuine concern for your clients. So, please consider this (almost) client extremely satisfied. I am sincerely grateful.

A brilliant lawyer who truly cares about his clients — an unconditional recommendation !!
We were referred to Rick Lurye by some close friends when our teenage son fell foul of the law and was charged with second degree assault (on a police officer) and resisting arrest. Rick was very thorough and thoughtful in his interventions. His experience in dealing with similar cases is more than evident and his ability to negotiate a deal with the attorney’s office was exceptional. Rick also made sure that my son understood the gravity of his mistake and provided “tough love” and wise counseling.
We are thrilled that my son had the charges against him dropped (after completing community service and alcohol awareness education) and that he can now go on to fulfill his promise as a more thoughtful citizen and leader of the future.
We highly recommend that you work with Rick. He is a truly exceptional lawyer who really cares about his clients.
I was not even sure I needed a lawyer. What I did know was, I needed more information. My son had already gone to court for some traffic violations and I was worried about the amount of his fines and if there was a way we could ask for payment terms or more time to pay from the courts. I had doubts that a lawyer would even speak to me with such a seemingly minor problem. Richard was not one of those lawyers. He was quite ingenuous. He very willingly offered up all the information I needed and more to help me make an informed decision. Richard was a very empathetic to my plight. This time I did not need to retain an attorney and thanks to Richard I was able to make the right decision.
What a wonderful man all around!
Mr. Lurye will treat you as his own family member
Mr.Lurye is the most patient, honest, and professional criminal defending lawyers in Rockville, MD area. If you work with him, unlike other lawyers, Mr. Lurye will actually take time to listen to all your questions, concerns, and issues. I am not talking about just first 30minutes before you hire a lawyer. In fact, when I first talk to him, we talked at least an hour on the phone. ON THE PHONE!!!! I know not a single lawyer will talk to you regarding your issue for more than 15minutes, especially on the phone. In the past, I have worked with at least 5 lawyers and everyone has 10.0 ratings in AVVO; however, no one provided same services as Mr. Lurye. And I guaranteed that you will feel safe, relax, and protected. In addition, you will be surprised of your court findings. I honestly feel that we are lucky to have him in this area. If you have any issues related to criminal, includes DUI/DWI, save your time on searching lawyers and just call Mr. Lurye. HE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU.
A knowledgable, caring attorney
This was my first time down this path and I remember feeling overwhelmed with thoughts of how this charge would negatively impact my family.
I searched on line for where to even begin negotiating all the processes and steps that getting this nasty mess behind me would involve. One of the few helpful sites I found was Rick Lurye’s. It was the only information I found that explained that there are two separate arenas that will decide how this arrest will impact the defendant’s life– the DMV hearing and the hearing for sentencing.
Once I began to realize that there is a fairly small window in which to begin taking steps to mitigate the DMV impact I contacted Rick only to reach out to someone that could shed some light and advise on general fees. He responded to my email within a couple hours and I already felt better after speaking with him. Rick is a genuine and caring person who, I believe, truly wants to help his clients get through their charge in the healthiest and most favorable manner. He advised me on certain steps I should and would have to take even before I agreed to hire him. He’s a very good listener and he did all he could to communicate with me and help me to understand a fairly complicated process.
Be prepared, Rick will give you a list of action items that you– the defendant– will need to take. This list grieved me even more as I began to consider the time– in addition to the expense– this process would take .
However, the very important thing to realize is all these steps will help him present you as someone who fully understands the gravity of the charge. And note, these are steps the court will, in all probability, make you take anyway. So I can say from experience, it makes good sense to follow his counsel and satisfy the items on the list and show up in court as someone who has learned, has already taken steps to understand the gravity of the charge and to ameliorate the source of the problem.
I am truly grateful to Rick Lurye for the guidance he gave me, for seeing me through my ordeal in a genuinely caring manner and for helping me to get the best outcome possible. By following his counsel and with his representation, I received, I believe, the most lenient sentence I could have hoped for.

It is your one and only “right”…use it wisely!
After obtaining a peace order against an ex-girlfirend for harassment and stalking, I soon found myself in a precarious situation when she fraudulently filed charges against me for second degree assualt, with the Mongomery County Commissioners Office, in Rockville, MD. Although, it was clear by the absence of any credible evidence, a single witnesses or police report and the irrational timeline of alleged events, that these charges were nothing more than a fictitious reprisal on her behalf, the Montgomery District Attorney’s Office, in all its diligence and reason “decided” to pursuse pressing the charges. In realizing that I was now in a very serious situation with potentially harmful consequences, I procured the services of Richard Lurye in my defense. Richard, is a very knowledgeable and experience atttorney, who understands the Montgomery County “Legal System”, its processes and players well. He understands how it works ( or more appropriatly, does not work). Richard comes across as sincere and caring. He is meticulous and calculated with each decision he makes. Throughout the period where I had retained his services, he was extremely responsive. As a result of Richard Lurye’s efforts, my charges were dismissed and I am grateful for that. I do believe that if it were not for Richard Lurye, I would have likely become victim to a jaded ex girfriend and a beligerent, irresponsible and reckless legal system. If you find yourself held captive to the Montgomery County judicial system; where the only “right” you have is to procure an attorney, remember it is your one and only right…so use it wisely.
Richard was a fantastic lawyer for our 17 year old son’s case. We got a great outcome, and he made sure our son learned a lesson
Richard was a fantastic attorney. Our son did a foolish, reckless thing, but the charges were exaggerated. We were seriously afraid that he would be convicted and sentenced as an adult for a stupid, immature prank. Richard was there with us every step of the way. He gave us all the time and information we needed. He was extremely knowledgeable and always available. Other attorneys in the area know and respect him, so he was able to work with the state’s attorney and persuade him to kick the case to the juvenile system. He is extremely knowledgeable of the law, and he knows people very well. He immediately seized on a strategy that would exonerate our son in the adult criminal case while still holding him responsible for his impulsive, reckless behavior.
All the while that he was working hard to get our son’s case handled in a way that would not ruin his life, he never lost sight of the fact that this had to be a learning experience for our child. He supported us as parents in making sure that our son took this very seriously, that he made positive steps towards changing his own life and choices in significant ways, and that he fully accept responsibility for the recklessness of his actions. Rick is tough but extremely compassionate. By the end of the process, we felt we had not only an advocate but a friend. I would trust him with any situation of any kind. Our circumstances were extremely serious. He never panicked, and he never faltered. It was the perfect balance of hard-nosed advocacy for our son within the system, and hard nosed engagement with our child to hold him accountable. He clearly took it as his mission to see that justice was served in this case and that our son did not suffer terrible legal consequences. I would say he took equally seriously that this was a major, formative experience in our son’s life, and he made him toe the line every step of the way. Our son ended up doing many hours of community service, getting his grades up in school, and taking more responsibility at home before ever appearing before the authorities in the juvenile system. 6 months ago, we were scared that he would be in jail by this time. Because of Rick’s expert, humane, bulldog advocacy, instead our son will graduate high school in 2 months and has been admitted to college with no blot on his record. And he has a new respect for others and a new direction in his life. I think Richard Lurye for this profound turn around, and for keeping my child out of prison. He truly gave my child a second chance.
If all attorneys were like Richard Lurye there would no longer be negative jokes about attorneys. Mr. Lurye is a knowledgable, experienced, caring representative of his profession. His in-depth, individualized approach to his clients, and their families, make a venture into the legal system much less stressful and more easily understood. I highly recommend Mr. Lurye to anyone needing help and guidance through the legal system.
Gabriel of Justice
My gratitude and heartfelt thanks to Attorney Richard Stefan Lurye. I had a telephone conversation with him today and he spent about an hour listening and giving legal advice regarding my case involving a juvenile. He gave me a lot o very relevant information and contact persons that will help solve my case. He is very sincere and willing to help . I can say also thet he is the Gabriel of Justice. Thank you and God bless !!!
I Highly Recommend Mr. Lurye
I was overwhelmed dealing with my first DUI/DWI. Mr. Lurye helped me deal with the many problems I faced right away. At a time when I felt very alone it was very encouraging to have Mr. Lurye on my side. He helped me prepare for court and have the best possible outcome when the date arrived. I really feel like he cares, even after my court date. I highly recommend Mr. Lurye if you are in a similar situation.
Excellent Counsel, Support, and Representation
From the onset of my legal troubles, through the court hearing and beyond, Mr. Lurye was there to advise and support me. He not only had an excellent grasp of the subtleties of the legal system, but was also very supportive and compassionate through it all. He is not afraid to be tough when he has to be, but there is a purpose behind it, which is to help those who have made mistakes get passed them and get on with their lives.
This was the first major legal issue I had to face in my life, and at the age of 58, it was at first very devastating. Due to Mr. Lurye’s expertise and tireless devotion to his work and clients, the outcome of my case was better than I had hoped.
I would wholeheartedly recommend him to my friends and family.
Great person, knowledgeable, and cares for you as his own child!
I was lost after being charged with possession CDS, because it was my first time getting in trouble, I thought I would never be able to get up again. Rick is not just a great lawyer he is also a good mentor. you will not regret having him as your lawyer.
Hope these words help you make the right choice. even though the case is settled I still get support from him!
Peace and well being,
Best possible outcome under the circumstances
Mr. Lurye was my lawyer and has helped me get through my DWI case. He made himself available for questions and was responsive throughout the whole process. I also appreciated that he was supportive and cared, I always felt better and positive after speaking to him. He is extremely thorough when it comes to answering any questions you have, and he makes sure you are aware of best case/worst case scenarios at all times. I did not exactly hear what I wanted at times, but I can say that my concerns were addressed at all times.
Mr. Lurye asked me to take some steps proactively before my court date in order to be prepared. I took an alcohol education class, did some community service, wrote an essay on alcoholism and attended a PADDD meeting (similar to MADD). These were helpful for my case but I have learned a lot from it too.
I think I was the most prepared in the courtroom that day (7/8 people went before me), and he was able to convince the judge that I have learned from my mistake by showing the steps that I took. The judge recognized the effort that I made and as a result, we were able to get the best outcome, 6 months probation supervised to be unsupervised after attending a MADD class.
I believe having Mr. Lurye as my lawyer has helped get the best possible outcome in court under the circumstances, and his support has made those difficult months less stressful. I would recommend him.
THE BEST REPRESENTATION
Mr. Richard Lurye represented me in a case of DUI/DWI. I had the best legal representation I could have desired. The outcome of my case was excellent. At the beginning I was extremely nervous about my case. However, since the first day I contacted Mr. Lurye, I knew I could trust my case to him. I was always treated with respect and professionalism. Mr. Lurye kept me informed at all times and also guided me through the legal process for the possible outcomes of my case. I felt my case was handled with care and solid understanding.
Mr. Lurye has an in depth knowledge of the legal system and combined with his vast experience, professionalism, and companionship makes him the best legal representation for your case.
Recommendation for Rick
I worked with Richard for DUI case. Rick is by far the best lawyer I had privilege to work with. I interviewed a lot of lawyers before I chose Rick. My criteria to pick him was educational background, his past performance and DAs familiarity with his name. Rick provided me legal guidance to go through this personal set back. He helped me with MVA hearing and Court hearing. He provided me in detailed what needs to happen first and why. It helped me prioritize different activities what I was supposed to do. I got the results what I was looking for and I am very thankful to Rick. His legal knowledge is excellent.
Did an excellent job yet again
Mr. Lurye represented me at an MVA Hearing related to my prior DUI charges and did an excellent job yet again. He was poised, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. The outcome was as good as I could’ve hoped for. I can’t help but think that I could’ve avoided the whole ordeal if I had contacted him sooner.
Knowledgeable and kept me informed
Worth the investment
My DUI was a difficult case because my BAC was .22 and the State’s evidence was fairly solid. However, thanks to Rick’s excellent guidance, extensive experience, and familiarity with the local judges, I was able to prepare a very strong case and receive a PBJ.
Exceptional Results, Experienced Attorney with a Keen Courtroom Sense
Richard Lurye is a great lawyer and the kindest human being. He took on my case and worked to achieve amazing results that I did not believe possible. He fully understood all the issues at stake and worked on my behalf to secure the best possible settlement. I was impressed by his sharp mind and strong will to help and the most sincere approach in very delicate matters. Mr. Lurye is above all very professional, yet compassionate and intelligent. I highly recommend him. Thank you so much for your help, Mr. Lurye.
Review Lawyer Services of Richard Lurye
Mr. Lurye provided a pro-active approach to resolving the legal issues faced by our family member, as well as providing a significant positive learning experience for the accused. His approach gave a clear focus on how to prepare for court, and how to turn a bad decision into a teachable moment. Significant growth, appreciation for outcomes and consequences of behavior followed from Mr. Lurye’s program of things to do before court.
At trial, Mr. Lurye guided us through each phase and possible outcomes with patience and sensitivity to our concerns. He was simultaneously attentive to strategic opportunities for our case as the became available, and ultimately led us to a very good outcome for the circumstances.
Rating for Richard Stefan Lurye
Excellent lawyer, very professional and effective. Always accessible. Knows what he is doing. I was extremely nervous about my case but he managed to calm me down. I am very pleased with the outcome of my case.
washington DC area’s greatest experience with a Defense Lawyer
From the beginning, Richard responded to my inquiry on a Saturday; I followed all his steps and it led to a very successful outcome. Richard was able to get me the best sentencing one can hope for; my case was complicated, I was out of town a lot, and Richard always accomodated me, and took the time to explain to me everything. At the end, the judge was very impressed by how well prepared Richard had me when coming into the meeting; also Richard took the time to teach me some life valuable lessons, and so much I didn’t know about law in general, and my rights and responsibilities.
I highly recommend Richard Lurye
Our son made a stupid decision and drove our car after he had been drinking. Fortunately, he was “pulled over” before injuring himself or anyone else. This put us in the “court system” for the first time. Richard was able to guide us through the process and helped us get about as favorable of outcome as possible.
HOWEVER, his effect on our son was even better. He put our son through a series of “assignments” which were detailed and very time consuming. In fact it made our son very angry. An amazing thing then happened. By the end of this process our son learned that it was his fault and there were consequences for his actions. This “awakening”, I believe will help prevent our son from making the same mistake twice. I believe he will think of the consequences of his actions before he carries them out.
I would definitely recommend this lawyer.
Mr. Lurye was very helpful, knowledgeable, and competitive. Also, he is very pleasant and supportive person. The most important that he spent a lot of time to explain our teen son all the danger of illegal actions.
- Lily V.
Mr.Lurye changed my whole idea of what an attorney does. He was very supportive, understanding, & non judgmental. He always kept me informed and I never felt uncomfortable with the process. My family thanks him for all he has done for

He is the right lawyer for the right time
I had no any clue where to turn my face when I found his web sight which was full of vital information. I contacted him he gave me what I need most for that particular time, comfort.
Richard is a very caring and understanding attorney who focuses on the person he is representing. His legal knowledge in our situation was exceptional.
A fantastic attorney who truly cares about his clients.
Rick was retained to help with 2 DWI cases, one involving an injury to another party. He is the most knowledgeble, through and cring attorney you will find. His degree of detail and guidance is unsurpassed by any attorney i have ever known. He manner will make any client truly secure tht you have someone looking out for you and with you as an entire person in mind. There is no one else i would even consider if i needed counsel.
Very knowlegable defense attorney and is on good terms with the judges in Rockville. He has helped two people I know who had DUI’s and did right by both of them. Only thing is he’s on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for.
The Judge Followed Each of Mr. Lurye’s Recommendations
This was my third DUI in seven years. I had an underlying medical disorder which was aggravated by medications prescribed by my doctor. Mr. Lurye sent me for a medical evaluation with a new doctor who discovered that the prescription drugs were triggering my alcoholism. I followed each of Mr. Lurye’s recommendations. The Judge did not send me to jail and I no longer have any need to drink.
Richard is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. He displayed both knowledge and companionship with me and our judges. Now that I look back at my case I found that I had the best lawyer with the best outcome.
Thanks again Richard.
Review of Richard Lurye
I was referred to Mr. Luyre by a friend with glowing accolades to the point that I didn’t believe them. Well, trial day arrived where I met Mr. Luyre and I will say I was impressed. He was well respected and known by all in the court room. My case was definitely not your everyday case (DUI, .31 BAC). I got an extremely fair and reasonable judgment due to his through research into my situation, his preparation advice to me, and his testimony to the judge. Would I refer him to others, no question.
Note: I only gave him a good for the informed portion above. Some people like to be called contacted daily with updates, Richard will only contact you when he needs to. Not an issue for me but he doesn’t give constant day to day updates or calls. He is very busy, but he knows what he is doing and isn’t letting your issue go by the way side.
Bill from Cape Cod
I first contacted Mr. Lurye following my arrest on November 26, 2008. He worked with me until my court appearance on March 6, 2009. Because of all the excellent work he did for me, I was put on probation for six months. At that time he filed my record and I was done with the court. Mr. Lurye was extremely understanding and professional in walking mre through the legal process I was facing. He was always available to answer questions and ensure I understood what was required.
Can’t Get A Better Counselor!
I was very happy with Atty Lurye in handling my case from beginning to end. It is obvious from the moment you meet him that he knows what he’s talking about and HE CARES! Atty Lurye made an easy to follow “List” of everything he wanted me to do in preparation for my case and this really helped me get thru the process without any confusion. I believe completing his List helped the Court to realize how deeply committed I was to making the necessary corrections in my behaviors and attitudes such that the Court could comfortably render a decision in my case that would be clearly considered more lenient or the best possible outcome! He also proved very keen on the processes within the Courthouse that also helped to get my case heard in a Courtroom that I would have a better chance at the best possible outcome. Atty Lurye is excellent and a master at his craft!
